THE HIGHWAY

SERIES I - THE HIGHWAY

“Dusk till dawn”

90 x 90 cm acrylics on canvas

I photographed a petrol station on Highway 395 at the point in the evening when the light goes from orange to nothing. I didn't think much of it at the time. It burned down a few months later.

This painting is now the only version of that place that exists anywhere. It is the largest thing I have made, and the one I would keep if I kept one.

Chrome, dust, and the smell of burning rubber on an empty desert road. The Last Race captures the mythology of vintage American muscle - those wide, low machines that looked like they were built for one thing and one thing only. The desert doesn't care who wins. It just watches.

Painted in acrylics with bold colour and graphic energy, this piece is equal parts speed and stillness - the moment before the flag drops, frozen in paint.

"Pennzoil" is an original acrylic painting on canvas board by Piotr Kabat — gritty, nostalgic, and dripping with Americana energy.

“Huevos Rancheros”

60 x 60 cm Acrylics on canvas

A diner somewhere in the American West. A waitress crosses the floor, plate in hand. Outside the window, mountains catch the last of the sunset. Nobody's in a hurry. The coffee's hot. The light is perfect.
